Mortal Kombat X announced

Following retail leaks and a torrent of teases, Mortal Kombat X was officially announced this morning by Ed Boon, creative director of NetherRealm studios. The game had previously leaked on retail sites for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms for 2015.

The ultra-violent fighting series had new life beat into it following Warner Bros. acquisition of the franchise in 2009, with the 2011 reboot a critical and financial success.

The last MKs I enjoyed were 2/3 .. after that I felt that overcomplicated a perfect 2d fighting game.  Hopefully they can return to their roots.

Terrible trailer, that rap song was truly cringey.

Hope it doesn't depart from MK9 too much, they hit the sweet spot finally after years of failed experimenting.

Mortal Kombat X is an upcoming fighting game in the Mortal Kombat series. It is being developed by NetherRealm Studios for the PlayStation 3PlayStation 4Xbox 360Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows, with its release scheduled for 2015.[1]

The game will allow players to choose between multiple versions of each character, with each version providing differences in gameplay. The game is also to feature the return of X-Ray moves introduced in the previous title. The press release promised "all new gameplay" featuring "a new fully-connected experience that launches players into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy."[2]

OK. So we don't know a whole heck of a lot, but are the MK fans looking forward to this one? Did we like the last one? (Which is also onsale on Steam right now, FYI)

oh definitely, MK9 was probably the strongest outing for the franchise since the 90s. They had some success with DA and Deception in the Xbox/PS2 era but nothing like it was before. That was during the "FGC slump" and before the resurgence after Evo moment 37.

People will be looking forward to this a lot. Just hope they don't screw it up and try to experiment too much like I said earlier. MK is at it's best when they stick to 2.5D plane fighting.
