goretsky Supervisor Posted June 4, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted June 4, 2014 Hello, After a round of laptop memory upgrades, I have ended up with ten 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMMs. Looking around, I noticed there are various 204-pin DDR SO-DIMM to 240-pin DIMM adapters available on AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, etc. These seem to be intended for use in dedicated memory testers, but I am wondering if anyone has tried using them long-term in a PC, and if so, what the results were (stable, etc.). goretsky Supervisor Posted June 21, 2014 Author Supervisor Share Posted June 21, 2014 Hello, As a follow-up, I purchased six (6) DDR3 SO-DIMM to DIMM adapters, in order to use 24GB (6?4GB DDR3 SO-DIMMs) in an MSI X58M system that previously had 12GB (6?2GB DDR3 DIMMs) in it. The motherboard is only recognizing four adapted memory modules. I am unsure if this is an issue with the memory, the adapter cards, or the motherboard. I have some additional memory modules I can try, but suspect it maybe a load limitation with using the adapters. Regards. Aryeh Goretsky
Sikh
Never knew these exsisted. These sound like a great idea. But like your suspecting its probably a load issue. goretsky 1 Share
