nub
I have a dd-wrt router (192.168.1/24) behind another router (192.168.0/24). Within the 192.168.1/24 network, hostnames of various devices can be resolved. Devices outside can be connected to by IP address (192.168.0.xxx), but hostnames cannot be resolved. Can the router be configured so the external device hostnames can be resolved?
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted June 4, 2014 Veteran Share Posted June 4, 2014 You need to configure the DNS servers on the routers to talk to each other, I assume dd-wrt is running dnsmasq, which can be told to talk to a specific DNS server for a specific domain (You'll also need to configure the routers to offer separate names, like *.lan and *.lan2, etc.)
+BudMan MVC Posted June 4, 2014 MVC Share Posted June 4, 2014 So side question, are you natting beteween these networks.. Out of the box I would say yes - but maybe not.. If not then then there is no reason why all the devices can not just use one of them as dns and your dhcp server could be one of them as well.. You can still run multiple segments. Why are you running 2 networks?
