Recommend a good Red Wine

Recommended Posts

I have always liked the idea of Red Wine but from memory growing up it smelt like strong vinegar which had put me off until now when i am determined to like it. There is only so much fizz i can take from Beers.

I need a recommendation that will have me hooked. Something fruity to tickle those tastebuds...(smiling whilst writing that lol).

There must be some Wine experts among us....

SHOW YOURSELF OR NEVER BE HEARD!

Thanks

I don't drink red, but my Grandad swears by a good Rioja. It's the only wine where he doesn't wake up in the night having the taste of vinegar in his mouth. My wife's Gran swears by Shiraz. And that's about all I know of red wine.

If you want a change because you don't like the fizz of beer, what about bitter or real ales/IPA?

I have tried many of those at Beer festivals and they just dont float my boat. I hear that really good Red wine is not that cheap.

I echo the above, I assume you usually drink largers?

I would try something like a bitter (John Smiths, Worthingtons) for a smooth taste
Real Ales, if you want a fruity taste then I would definatly try Badgers Golden Glory - got quite a peachy taste to it.

I drink beer and lager and do enjoy it. I just want to taste a good Red Wine.

Try a Rioja then, about ?8-?15 for a 1/2 decent bottle in Sainos or Tesco. I think they'll be classed under Spanish.

I will keep my eyes peeled on Satuday for some of your suggestions. I will be attracted to anything with the word fruity on it.

My wife and I just started to become red wine drinkers.. We have tasted 9 different kinds so far. We are trying to taste each of the different main Red wines, then branch out to the different makers of each.

So far as far as a sweet great wine, we loved Roscato. The one we got was Rosso Dolce Sweet Red. Its the same stuff sold at Olive Garden thats hugely popular right now.

As far as a good all around wine that has a good bite to it and a ton of different flavors going on between spice, and barrel, and berries? We love Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon.  Great wine right there, was actually suggested to me by a neowiner! lol

We are drinking reds only as we want to get the "health benefits" from it.
