Changing hosting company...any thoughts?

I have been with Softcom/MyHosting for 15 years. I am looking to pay less and I need robust email/SPAM filtering.

Anyone ever moved from a longtime hosting company (with lots of archived emails, etc)?

Is using a US-based company (rather than a Canadian-based company, like Softcom) more of or less than a security concern (as far as Govt snooping)?

I'm thinking of using Dotster, btw.

why don't you get a cheap webhost and a separate email host that's dedicated to that task?

How many email addresses/users are you looking for? For email I would say go for Office 365 hosted Exchange if it's not too many users.

problem is that all the good services are in the US. If he wants to stay in Canada he's gonna have to really look around for a good exchange host at a decent price, because the Canadian services aren't publicized nearly as much.
