Laptops to get maglev keyboards that reduce their thickness

Magnetic levitation keyboards have been around for a while, but they've never really taken off, or floated our boats, or attracted much atten... Anyway, a Taiwanese manufacturer called Darfon is persevering with the idea, and it's discovered that maglev keys, which rest on opposing magnets instead of mushy membranes or mechanical switches, can make laptop keyboards significantly thinner.

Keyboard feel is one of those personal preferences that varies significantly among different people, so I expect that if ever employed, this new feel would be pretty polarizing.

I'm not a big fan of thin keyboards, I need a nice bit of travel for a good typing experience. The idea of even thinner keyboards is not an attractive proposition to me. I suppose if I was forced to though I'd deal with it.

I would like to try it ;)  I'm using a Retina MacBook Pro at the moment, and I honestly have a hard time figuring out how a laptop keyboard can get any better than that. Not that I am an Apple-fanboy or anything, but I had many laptops (Dell, Toshiba, Asus, etc.) and the Apple keyboard is hard to beat.

Hmm, I can imagine it being annoying to replace individual keys on these types of keyboards. Hopefully only certain laptops will adopt to this type of keyboard.

i imagine the bottom is just a bunch of little electromagnets since it's variable strength. I can imagine it being pretty decent if combined with a scissor switch

this probably good for magic show, magentic ghost randomly press the magentic keyboard.

 

The poles will be the wrong way round for that :P

 

The magnets will be facing S/S or N/N to ensure that they repel, and the pressure of the finger on the key will force the magnets together and create resistance.
