As the topic title states, how do I disable the vibrate/haptic feedback on the soft buttons.

 

It annoys me no end.

 

Phone is a generic Android with stock Jelly Bean 4.2.2 ROM (rooted).

 

I am able to disable it on the keypad, but I have gone through every menu/submenu and I cannot find any option to do this systemwide.

 

I know there are apps to do this (like SpareParts+), but it returns on reboot.

Settings/Language and Input settings.  Select the KB and go to the settings and disable it from there.  Should do it as there should be options to turn off vibrate and sound when a key is pressed.

Rooting a phone doesnt remove settings. It just unlocks them.  If he applied a diff ROM, then that may have done it.

It has a Mediatek MTK 6572 chipset.

 

The phone works beautifully otherwise, though.

Any specific model of phone?  Can you screenshot your settings menu and post here?

That is fine.  I am going offline for a few hrs anyway.  So someone else will probably have the answer by the time I get back. :)

Don't forget that some carriers have different settings and different layout based on what they want to provide to their customers.

 

And I agree with techback about having a different ROM that might have removed that option.

 

Since OP is on stock ROM.   it might be glitch or messed up.

 

Try to reset your phone and start over and see if helps... then you can restore your apps back in.

 

If you get vibrate feedback all over again, then it might be one of the apps screwed it up.

I figured it out:

 

If I select the "General" profile, the haptic feedback stops.

With the "Outdoor" profile selected, the haptic feedback is enabled regardless of the "vibrate on touch" setting.

I figured it out:

 

If I select the "General" profile, the haptic feedback stops.

With the "Outdoor" profile selected, the haptic feedback is enabled regardless of the "vibrate on touch" setting.

All the others are, as far as I can tell, system presets, and uncustomisable.

So the volume/vibrate controls are under the specific profiles then.  Odd.  Dont remember JB having it that way.  May be possible Blu edited things a bit.

Could be. Anyway, I'm happy now. I really do not like the haptic feedback throughout.
