Ive just added a third monitor to my rig. Monitors 1 & 2 are attached to an nVidia 650GTX via DVI and the 3rd is attached to the onboard video via HDMI All is good on boot, the monitor works exactly as I want - However, after the PC sleeps, the 3rd monitor doesn't wake up. On closer inspection, the 3rd monitor is actually missing from the Device Manager after the PC wakes. A reboot sees it come back, a new hardware scan does not detect it. The PC is an i7 on an Asus Z87M-PLUS running Windows 8.1 update 1. Drivers are from nVidia and Intel respectively and are latest available. The Evil Overlord Posted June 7, 2014 Share Posted June 7, 2014 I'm surprised the third monitor works at all running on board with an added card (I could never get that to work in that format <I have to run 2 cards, windows 7 x64>) I do recollect some issues with 8.1 and graphics, I think Neobond had to get an older driver to get his rig to work (this was a while back) So I would ask you keep in mind pmming him to see how he fixed his issue, although someone will be along shortly who knows more than I, on how to help in the meantime Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thats why it works, and it keeps working until the PC sleeps and thats what has me baffled. If I cant find a solution, I might just have to buy another 650 GTX, but since I barely game on the PC I think thats kind of a waste. The Evil Overlord Posted June 7, 2014 Share Posted June 7, 2014 wait, you don't need a triple headed or second 650gtx, grab any bargain basement NVidia driven hd card (the gt430 which incidentally is my main card isn't bad) and run the second and third monitors from that I run the gt430 on my 1920x1080 main screen and a GeForce 8500gt for my 2 side screens (it's listed on my profile) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Aergan Posted June 7, 2014 Share Posted June 7, 2014 Sounds like a motherboard firmware issue to me. Devices should come back from sleep states.
