Linux Mint 17 Software manager not working

Recommended Posts

Downloaded Linux mint 17 the newest edition that came out a few days ago full release not beta. I use the software center to download applications but it says installed but they do not show up in the software menu or games or anywhere. For example I downloaded 2 games such as super tux card racer and it says installed but does not show up.

I have used various Linux distro  ( not a pro at linux but not quite a newb ) . I was using Linux Mint 16 for along time and I have installed this software many times via the software utility in Linux Mint with no problems at all. But for some reason with Linux Mint 17 newest edition none of the software shows up that is installed.

Anyone have any ideas??

never did in the past with linux mint. would be sad if this was a new " feature " in the new version. I will give this a try right now. Will post an update in a few min.

Xahid it didi work thank you very much. Just does not make sense how I have never had to restart for the software to show up on any other older versions of Linux Mint except for this new version that came out a few days ago. Just seems backwords to me.

Glad to hear you got that working! I like Mint's software centre but I still use synaptic most of the time out of habit (use it as well in all Ubuntus).

its not the new feature, it happened with me a long time ago, I guess I was on Ubuntu 6 or 7, and I have no idea why we have to restart the system.

I liked muon when I was using Kubuntu. I still also installed synaptic. I guess when I started using Linux synaptic was the best way to find what was there in the repos you were connected to. These other software centers, including the Ubuntu one (and I think Debian uses an unbranded version of the Ubuntu one), are great, but I always default to synaptic. :)
