Which genre(s) of gaming would you like to see more or less of...

We need more of everything, we don't need less of anything. No matter how much you personally hate CoD.

I think it's more about resource allocation than actually removing the amount of games in the world. I agree more is better, but if studios chose to make that hit Adventure Game instead of that hit Shooter Game I'd be a lot happier.

Just took a nap and had a quick dream about a developer or publisher announcing a Korean War FPS, saying how it's the forgotten war, something about that reservoir battle being a level in the game. True story. Not sure this counts though, as it's not really a genre we need more of - there's hardly a shortage of military shooters. Guess it's more of a setting that's not often seen.

As for genres, what we need less of i am sorry to say are these walking simulators. Lifeless Planet has revealed itself as one of those after a good start. We could use walking simulators with guns i suppose. Or a helpless horror game with guns. Just mod Machine for Pigs so you walk in there with an ACR, and watch those freaks run in fear.

Less: fps, mmo,  f2p, p2w, sports

but i'm curious if some dev made a fp-sports.

Or, a Free to Play First Person Sports Game MMO that turns out to be Pay to Win.

I want more games with a story as good as The Last of Us, but the open-world nature of the 1st Crysis - i.e. bugger-all on-rails or corridor sections. That would make me very happy.

As well as an end to zombie titles, I want an end to platform exclusive titles!

Really don't get why some games companies do that... Deliberately limiting your market is beyond stupid!

Nintendo would probably disagree with that assessment :p

One can understand it from the company making the hardware.  I mean third party development companies who have no real vested interest in one platform over another.

The Last of Us is a good example of what I mean.  I'd -love- to play that title (even though it has pseudo-zombies), but I'm not going to spend hundreds on a PS3 just so that I can; I have a fairly good PC and a 360 already.

The Last of Us was made by Naughty dog which is a subsidiary or Sony Computer Ent.

Halo, which is obviously a huge Xbox exclusive, has been developed by or published by Microsoft or Subsidiaries of MS (Ensemble Studios and currently 343 Industries).

Exclusives are frustrating sometimes but I get why consoles manufacturers want them. They are system sellers.

I've yet to meet anyone stupid enough to buy an entire console system for ONE game.

That'd be an F2PP2WFPSGMMO. I like it.

Perhaps not, but if you were in the market for a console and you were going to make the decision not on brand loyalty but to which has the best games which the other one doesn't it could be a deciding factor.

I purchased a PS3 over a 360 because of some of the games it had that the 360 didn't.

I'll show you when Smash Bros comes out how stupid I can be :)

Less crap like the 90% of what was shown at E3. More stuff like Dota, Starcraft, Witcher, Hearthstone, Civilisation and whatever else that is not shallow as a baby's morning poo.

If every free to play game could just die that'd be great, Its a sorry state of affairs when this junk shows in pc gaming sites. Next they'll be reviewing evony and facebook games (N)

Oh and zombies, In movies (The Last Days on Mars) and games its just being lazy imagine if instead of the predator or alien they went with space zombies... Yeah that would suck.

Now that I think about it, we could do with less "Rust" games. Seems to be a new one every other week and they're all "Early Access".

OH! and "Early Access", I have no real issue with that process but it seems that the games never actually finish. Developers need to start proving me wrong.

Less vaseline in AAA department.

Less faux 8-bit and raggedy-ass nostalgia in indies.

Both have become so prevalent they can be considered genres I want less of.

^ this!

Don't get me wrong, i love Vaseline and use it on my person all the time, but always thinking about it while playing Watch Dogs is distracting.

As for the 8-bit indies, we get it already and enough. There's a reason for progress. Too young to have gamed in the 80's and think you missed on something? Older and pine for your 80's youth? Don't, games in the 80's were ######. And i loved each one of them back then. Back then. And on the offchance anyone disagrees, i think all of the good pixel indies would have been just as good if not better with modern-styled graphics (i love Pixeljunk Shooter, Hotline Miami, Fez, and others).

Lifeless Planet is an indie i can respect. Mediocre game but was made by one dude, and looks pretty good for that. At least it's obvious the guy tried to do something for progress with all the depth of field he lathered all over the shop! Ditto for Spintires, that's an indie i can respect as well.
