90 minute CD-RW

Recommended Posts

Quick Google search only shows CD-R, not RW. It seems like you can't get them in RW because 90 minutes is really pushing the boundary of CD capacity.

I don't think there are any, and even the CD-R versions can be unreliable since they are pushing things so far out of spec as mentioned above.

Any particular reason?

what exactly are you trying to do? Why would you not just use a DVD-RW that has 4.7GB vs a CD at 650 or 700MB?

Have a CD for work with three shows on it rather than 2.

Use DVD-R/RW or Blu-ray R/RW for the shows.

CD R/RW for small size files such as documents..

@OP - No CD-RWs exist in 90 min format, and even the CD-Rs are touch and go at best...

No its just that I havent used any optical drives/media in 2 years.  You do realize this tech is being phased out, right ?

Everything is moving to streaming/downloading - it has been the trend for a while.

Raa - I get out once in a while, then realize I dont like it and go back to my cave, but I do try.

Not yet.  DVD/BR isn't going anywhere yet.

Because not everyone have fastest internet service for downloads...

Keep this in mind that some people have no internet or slow internet service in some areas such as farm, country, etc.

That's the reason people use CD/DVD/BR for the files or backups.

It could be awhile before EVERYONE to use the fast internet in all areas in the future..  maybe in about 5 or 10 years for all worldwide to use streaming or downloading/uploading.

Oh I completely understand there are some people that cant download/stream.  But the industry and companies in particular dont make projections, or form business plans that cater to a small group of non-players.  No company wants these people as their customers, as its usually not profitable to cater to people who dont spend money.

But I agree, Blu-Ray is still young and a great technology.  I have a Blu-Ray player... but it has some dust on it because it is rarely ever used... in fact, I think I'll just toss it - it is just taking up space.

Who wants a Samsung smart Blu-Ray player for free ?  LOL

I download 1080 stuff nearly every day.  But you are correct in saying its not leaving entirely.  A 4K disc has to be in the works.

Because whenever I view 4K on my computer (I have a beautiful UHD 27" monitor) a 30 minute 4K loop is like 500GB !!

So this CD for work - what are you playing it in that doesn't read DVD?

And while some people are joking about it - the thumbdrive is a very valid suggestion.  I only use optical media as DR backup so my son can have a copy at his house and I have a copy here, for home video's only..  Other than that while people are having fun with it.  The optical media format seems to be dying off, etc.

^ veah it was driving me nuts these past 7 months..  But still don't know why can not just use CD-R at 20 cents a pop..  Be it 650MB, 700 or 800MB version.. They are pennies a piece.. Why would you need RW??

Guess these vans don't support mp3 on the CDs - or you could get 900 Minutes on there ;)

I'm guessing the vans don't have an AUX port that you could connect your phone/mp3 player in to?

If not, I would just go with CD-R. A pack of 100 CDs are
