Sound Distortion on High CPU Ticks

I have been getting weird pops and lagged music for a few weeks on my computer. Whenever there is a high tick on my CPU i get a sound distortion and it makes browsing the web and listening to music a little annoying. Any time i open a new tab or a flash element loads the music distorts.

 

PC Specs.

 

Windows 8.1u1 x64

Core i7 (Quad Core)

8Gb DDR3 RAM

Dual GT650M in SLI nVidia GeForce Driver Version: 337:88

RealTek Audio Driver Version: 6.0.1.6886

 

Laptop Model: Lenovo IdeaPad Y500

Prolly similar to my Thinkpad T410s. It seems like the Audio chipset and USB shares some portion of the PCI express bus or something. Whenever I'm copying files over WIFI and it maxes out, my audio stutters and the Trackpad doesn't work (sometimes) while the Trackpoint still works fine (prolly connected via PS/2 old serial lanes instead).

Got a T440s now and that doesn't seem to happen anymore but I haven't really tested it yet.

Tried updating Realtek Audio Driver to 6.0.1.7246 (Realtek HD Audio Driver 2.75)?

any chance you are overclocking your CPU (or anything else)?

 

because i remember once in a while my old motherboard, which i had the CPU overclocked on, would have a quick burst of sound distortion or stutter here and there and it was annoying and i am pretty sure it was due to overclocking a bit to much in my case even though the system was stable besides those occasional glitches.

See if Win8's drivers do the same thing. Realtek's / separate audio drivers have caused similar probs before. I've never bothered installing separate drivers for LAN, sound,  If I've installed Win7 or 8. The default drivers are good enough for me

I always get Realtek drivers from Realtek (Realtek actually recommends not doing that, but I often have a lot more problems with the older drivers from the OEMs than the newer ones they offer.)

 

Might also go for the Intel chipset drivers, if you haven't.

process.

 

Kill it in taskman (you will have to restart whatever you are using to play your music) and see if things calm down a bit.

Not over Clocking at all.

I am updating now to the newer version of the driver. I was using the latest version on the Lenovo website.

I have done two things since i got home.

 

Installed the latest Nvidia Driver (340.xx) 

Rebooted

Uninstalled RealTek Driver

Rebooted

Installed Realtek Driver 2.75

Rebooted.

 

and it appears to be all better now. (for the time being) lets see how it does in a day or so :D
