Play Titanfall on PC for Free

It?s Game Time! This is a brand new program on Origin: it?s free time with full games. Origin Game Time isn?t a demo, it?s the full game playable for free for as long as there?s time on your Game Time clock. And we?re kicking off Origin Game Time with a truly massive experience: Titanfall on PC.

This weekend you?ll be able to download Titanfall and play for free for two days straight. We?re launching Origin Game Time for Titanfall across the world over the next several hours, so if you don?t see it available yet in your territory, you will soon. Origin Game Time games will appear on our Free Games page when they?re available to download.

Haven?t felt the thrill of dropping an 18-foot tall metallic beast on your opponent? What about the rush of leaping from wall to wall through the war-torn alleyways of a devastated compound? This is your chance to really see for yourself what Titanfall is all about. Play it for yourself. It won?t cost you a thing.

For Titanfall you?re getting 48 full hours of Pilot/Titan action. It?s the entire game. The Origin Game Time clock begins the moment you start the game for the first time, and ticks down in realtime. Whether you?re fighting your friends or taking a break, the Game Time clock will continue to run.

Love the game after playing during Origin Game Time and want to continue? Your Titanfall progress is saved and you can pick up right where you left off if you purchase Titanfall.

If you already own Titanfall, this weekend is a great time to get back into the game. Origin Game Time will bring new Pilots into the fight ? help your teammates or swoop in for some easy points.

Titanfall is only the beginning for Game Time and there?s more on the way. Each Game Time will be unique: different game, different time on the Game Time clock. We?ll keep you posted on Twitter and Facebook (and here!) when your next Origin Game Time game begins.

slight selt-title post as it was misleading without some context

That's actually a great idea. I like how EA, with such ideas, is at least trying to shake off that "worst company" title (which they actually aren't; to my mind Ubisoft is). Origin platform is still an unwieldy POS that needs a serious makeover, though.

This is basically a timed demo, not exactly a new thing, but better than nothing at all.

Now, as much as I'd like to see what's all that rabble about with Titanfall, I probably won't take it for a spin, though. It'll take ages to download, and all my gaming budget has been preallocated three weeks ago to Gaben's Wallet*.

But I suppose they had to have a blockbuster there to kick off this program, otherwise folks would barely take any notice.

* - curiously, prefixed "My", but we know the truth about that, don't we?

It's a response to Steam's irregular free weekends where games are on sale and "free" to play until Sunday evening.

Origin could put the pressure on and have something every week, but it would probably cannibalize sales. It's a good feature though, along with 'On the House' and 'Great Game Guarantee' (aka the no Qs refund policy), it's playing into Steam's "weaknesses".

It would no more cannibalize gales than Steam's Free Weekends and Midweek Madness (similar event on Wednesdays) does - most of the games (on either Steam or Origin) have either no proper demo or no demo at all - Titanfall is in the latter category.  It also does NOT replace "On the House" (any more than Midweek Madness replaced the Free Weekends on Steam).  Competition is a GOOD thing, last I heard - so what's the cheeseburger?

There are two issues - the waiting (the promo hasn't started yet - at least in North America) and the sheer size - Titanfall IS, after all, one of EA's largest games, if not THE largest on PC. (However, it has lower system requirements than BF3 - which was part of "On the House" over Memorial Day.)  I await my Ogre with bated breath.

Well it would depend on the title. They usually pick games with a multiplayer focus. If you were able to play a SP game over the weekend, that's more than enough time to complete and then some. You'd have very little reason to buy the game after that, unless it also had a MP mode.

So either they'll do the same and offer MP only games, or they will reduce the number of hours you can play, similar to PS+ trials for SP games.

And I never said that On The House / GameTime was replacing anything so not sure what you're getting at with the cheeseburger

Unfortunately that's about how long it would take me to download it.

Ouch - what speed connection?  Dial-up?  Slow DSL?

I have Comcast's second slowest connection and it took about three and a half hours (that last half hour was due to install, including that nearly 30 GB of audio - over half the install alone is audio).

However, it IS of better graphical quality than the beta was - during the beta, I was at 1280x720 with nary a quibble; now I can go 1920x1080 (at least medium detail), but still with zero quibbling.  Amazing for a bottom-end PC.

Well you're in luck, the trial starts when the game is downloaded :)

How long on Max(15) Mbit?

How long on Max(15) Mbit?

Should actually be a little faster than my three and a half hours - and as Louisifer points out - the clock only starts when you launch the installed game for the first time - NOT on downloading the game.

They are slowing getting there honestly ...

Competition is good the last thing we want is Steam to be left alone.

I like Origin as a platform, i don't know why people hate it.

Its even good-looking than steam and i like how even if you have one game, it looks cool. Steam just has a list which if you haven't a 100 games on it looks ugly, sneaky bustards thats how they make us buy so many games lol..

Don't get me wrong though, i hate EA. Simply because EA.

Will never forgive them for making me go through more crashes than are healthy for an excited gamer ...bustards

Ubisoft was brought me so many Amazing memories, that I am willing to forgive it!   How can I hate on the company who's logo I see every time I load up my favorite games!

EA on other hand plain sucks!

You can display games by tiles in Steam too. This is the grid view in the library.

How ?

I your library left to the Big Picture button (top right of the window) there's a view setting. Select the 3rd option (grid view).

I prefer the detail view myself but having the option is great.

I wasn't referring to you, Andrew - I was referring to those complaining about Origin actually daring to match a Steam promotion heads-up.  That is what Origin SHOULD do.

If you look at Steam's Free Weekends, the games featured there ALSO are MP-focussed to a very large degree - in fact, I haven't seen them feature a SP-only game yet.
