Day One with Kinect.  I absolutely love the Kinect.  The game support is a little limited (although I did like telling the archers to fire in Ryse, my wife HATED the boss battles in Dead Rising 3 where you had to yell at the opponent! :D ), but being able to control the console with my voice is awesome.  The biggest advantage is that when the phone rings while I'm watching Netflix, I just say, "Xbox, pause," and answer the phone.  Before I'd have to fumble with the controller, power it back on (because it turns off with inactivity), wait for it to sync up to the Xbox, then pause the movie before answering the phone.  That alone is worth the cost of admission.  But not even having to have the controller near me to turn it on, watch Netflix, then turn the whole thing off again is great.

Day One Edition. I do not own nor plan to own any Kinect games, but I do enjoy using voice to control the UI. My only downfall with the Kinect is I have limited space and also a fan running which can drown out my voice.

This goes for everyone though: Smartglass is a great app!

I bought a Day One edition in February (they must have found old stock) with Forza. I tried using the Kinect for a short while, but I found myself having to shout in order for it to hear me over the volume of my TV, so I don't use it anymore.

I think you just need to re-calibrate it then, because I don't have that experience (although it doesn't always hear "Xbox On" properly, which is sad.... :(

A bit more TV/HTPC functionality, and I might tell myself a good enough reason to buy one.

Had the original XBox, before I got tired of it and gave it away ( to much joy) to one of my nephews ;-)

I probably should have done, but to be honest I just prefer using the controller anyway. And when I'm talking to friends, I don't want to be constantly shouting at my Xbox like some people do... :p

Got Xbox One with Kinect in December last year. The Kinect rarely gets used apart from when the missus dons her lycra for workout sessions together on Kinect Fitness, when we both can't be arsed running outside :)

Bought a very slightly used Xbox One w/ Kinect. Love the kinect. MUCH better than the first version.

I was planning on picking up a xbox one anyway before Halo MC / Halo 5 and would've still bought the "whole" package version

  • 1 month later...

Just bought one with Kinect and Forza Horizon 2 today... taking it back tomorrow as it won't read any discs at all. Very disappointed.

If I would have known that I needed the Kinect for the TV Guide feature I would have gotten that one. I figured I would get it eventually and save some money on the initial purchase. Still a good purchase, but I was really looking forward to not having to change inputs on my TV anymore!
