HELP! 16 year old interviewing as Geek Squad Consultation Agent

Recommended Posts

Can anyone give me some advice on tomorrows interview at Best Buy?

I have already had my first interview with the GM (which kind of surprised me, as most people have the GM as the last interview)

My second interview is scheduled for tomorrow with the Geeksquad supervisor.

Any advice on what to expect?

They will ask you basic questions on what you would recommend to customers who have certain needs.

Make sure you mention battery backups as an accessory that people need (its the highest margin item in the PC department).

Did you get your parents permission to join this site if you are not over 18? :shifty: I kid...

How did the interview with the GM go? What sort of background do you have?

Try to get a general information of the position you are applying and read and learn to what they are doing and what expect you to fix.

pretty sound advice imo.

haha thanks guys.. the GM interview went very well.. my first interview actually was for a different geek squad position but she went with another guy and referred me to this job. I have build own computer, set up server, troubleshot everyone else's ###### so I'm hoping I have a good chance to impress anyone I encounter.

Not sure about geek squad, but if you are a tech and work with the public, there probably looking for a mix of customer service, good technology foundation, demonstrate the ability to learn new tech quickly.

Just saw your post, always reflect back on job interview and reflect back. Send a thank you for interview letter.

Not discounting potential skills but building 1 computer, 1 server, and some troubleshooting for the family doesn't exactly give me great confidence in you.  Not sure I would trust you if you were my geek squad tech.

Just reminding you im not a tech.. The position is for a Consultation Agent..

70% of your time you will:

  • Engage customers using selling skills to provide solutions aligning with their ?definition of fix.?

30% of your time you will:

  • Work with the sales team, explaining services and technology to help them achieve business goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

I would trust myself to do this

If you can deal with the ###### I agree. I worked at gamestop when i was 16. It was better in a sense, still had the ###### quota but it was with pre orders and thats easy. If you don't pre order a game you want but expect it on launch day from a retail outlet, your a moron. Pre ordering is free and not a commitment.
