Android L coming to HTC One M8 and M7 90 days after it

Recommended Posts

Leave it to HTC?s (USA) to ride in the wake of today?s Google I/O announcements. By now, it really shouldn?t come as a much of a surprise, but the Taiwanese manufacturer has committed to bring Android L to their flagship HTC One family ( HTC One M8 and originally HTC One) world-wide, only 90 days after they receive the final code from Google. Pretty sweet and should help give HTC One owners the added peace of mind that they wont be left out in the cold.

Nice.. think my One is the first Android device I've owned that's (officially) gotten a major version upgrade.

Was the biggest thing hurting HTC.  Hopefully they follow thru and continue to do so.

If HTC gives me 2-3 years I'll be happy, no desire to deal with the quirks of a custom ROM. (Well I'm happy regardless, one of the better Androids I've owned.)  Frankly I'm surprised they're giving the One M7 version 5.0, I expected point release updates but not a major.. not that I'm complaining.    I've had back luck with some manufacturers, couple of them felt like they were discontinued before I even get it out of the store.

I think this is needed with android, with the amount of money you spend on a top of line android you should be getting versions this fast.
