Gerowen Posted June 27, 2014 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Tried to upload a scanned check to my banking website and noticed that although I have Java installed in Linux, it does not work in Chrome any more, but works fine in Firefox. I did a quick search and came up with this answer on Google Groups. Firefox still supports NPAPI. So eventually, other platforms will be affected. I don't use it often, but there are occasions that I need to use a website that requires Java, and I'm sure I'm not the only one either. This could hurt Chrome if Oracle doesn't get on board with updating their plugin. Yep, just found Google's article on it: http://blog.chromium.org/2013/09/saying-goodbye-to-our-old-friend-npapi.html According to the blog, they only list that the support was removed altogether for Linux, so Windows and OSX users should be OK for a while.
