At the weekend, Neowin reported on how Facebook secretly manipulated user's timelines in order to affect their emotions.

 

It's now been revealed that the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), and the Office of Data Protection in Ireland (Facebook's European headquarters are located in Dublin, Ireland) have said they plan to investigate Facebook over their subliminal psychological experiment.

Perhaps what's interesting/surprising here is that these investigations seem to be centered more around data protection issues, rather than on the issue of the use of a subliminal psychological manipulation experiment itself!
