More exactly, this one: http://www.lg.com/us/commercial/lcd-computer-monitors/lg-29EB73-P Now, it's probably going to take a while before you get to grips with the horizontal space - that you can put two or three, even four windows, move them around a bit and still see it all. It's especially useful with creative and professional software - you can have knobs and meters all over the place. Of course, it'd be even better with more vertical space as well (that is, 2560x1440 or 1600 even), but that stuff still costs an arm and a leg. This one doesn't, so it's an affordable way to increase screen real estate without going multi-screen. If you're on Firefox, this addon may help you (or, in fact, anyone with wide screens): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tile-tabs/ Note that 29" may sound big, but it isn't big at all. It's just like 23", but with really big, wide ears :D Other than that, viewing angle is great, IPS colors are fine, although some adjustments may be necessary - mine seemed too cool blue and too bright out of the box. Brightness adjustment is real pricky - you want to turn it down, it sharply drops at around 50 to pretty much unusable. Its matte surface still has some trouble in bright daylight or strong light sources (or I'm just nitpicking?). But it is at least very easy to clean and hard to scratch (I haven't really tried, but let's say some lesser accidents have already happened). Well, the back of EB73P is glossy like hell, but also hell if I care about the back). I don't have complaints about reaction time or input lag, but that might be because I'm not overly sensitive. Let's just say I can't really see any banding or ghosting and bullets also get to their target most of the time. Why I'm saying so much about my exact model? I've strong feeling that the panel itself is the same for all LG twentyniners. There's been some reports of backlight flickering and of backlight bleed with some of LG's twentyniners. Fortunately, mine does not flicker, but does have a bit of bleed in all four corners. Also, black is quite gray. I was unable to make it any better with tweaking. Youtube (and probably most web players, even HTML5 variant) won't properly upscale videos - it's got black borders on all four sides. However, BluRays and other sources of 1:2.35, with no black borders, look just awesome. Not so straightforward with games, too. Now, those that support at least some sort of widescreen will have little trouble scaling to 21:9 as well. Might need some hacks, edit configs by hand and such, some elements (menus) might be overly stretched. Some games, even (say, Mass Effect 3) doesn't like 21:9 at all - menus aren't clickable or even visible. Older games or those with non-AAA engines may just flat out not support it - you'd be lucky if they do 1080p. When they do, however (and when it's Hor+), it's just plain awesome. I've connected it to DisplayPort and USB 3.0, but haven't used the latter for anything other than seeing whether it works. Now, despite the aforementioned troubles with support in videos and games it's been rather great thus far and I feel it's well worth the monies. I wouldn't go back to 1080p, that's for sure. I'll say more - if (or when) I upgrade, I'll probably go 3440x1440; screw 2160p. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Phouchg Posted July 3, 2014 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Don't need to change DPI or anything. It's really quite like your usual 23" 1080p screen, just with extra horizontal space. I sit at about an arms length away (like ergonomics dictates) from it and have no trouble reading 6 pt fonts.
