cacoe
I frequently need to switch between standard 3.5mm jack and optical output on my Windows 8.1 machine. At the moment my process is: - Right click speaker icon in the system tray - Click playback devices - Right click the appropriate playback device - Click set as default. Is there any sort of way I could just set up a shortcut for each output on the taskbar or something, it'd make life that bit simpler! Thanks. Max Norris
Is there any sort of way I could just set up a shortcut for each output on the taskbar or something, it'd make life that bit simpler!Could use NirSoft's NirCmd tool, which has a lot of spiffy uses, one of which is letting you change the default audio device. Make a shortcut for that and do with it as you will, perhaps make a jumplist to keep them all on one taskbar icon or whatever if you want to condense it. Examples (Change the quoted text to what the outputs are named for your specific sound card obviously, get those from the control panel): nircmd setdefaultsounddevice "SPDIF Interface (TX0)" nircmd setdefaultsounddevice "Speakers" nircmd setdefaultsounddevice "3 - Digital Display Audio" http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html http://nircmd.nirsoft.net/setdefaultsounddevice.html Phouchg 1 Share

It works perfectly and I need to have a see to see what more useful stuff I can do :D Max Norris 1 Share
