Does this hdd need to be replaced?

When I play a video file from the harddrive it skips and lags as well.

This hdd backs up every morning to another hdd so everything is backed up. :)

One thing I've wondered is, are any files corrupted due to this?

What can cause this? My PC is on nearly 24/7, but I'm not writing lots of data or anything :(

Seems pretty warm, I would try to cool it off while it's running. Hopefully your case has a fan slot in front of the HDD cage and you could put one in. Either way, I would get a new drive for my system drive as that one is probably going to fail.

45C is usually safe for HDDs. I don't think it is the heat that does it, might be a bad sector or something.

Could be something as simple as Stokkolm alluded to. Check the case fans for dust bunnies - they'll spike the box temps like you wouldn't believe. It's not so much the heat per se, but the expansion related to it. The metallic alloys inside the drive and the read heads may move 1/10000th of inch closer or further away than spec.

I just thoroughly cleaned the case 2 weeks ago. :/

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was planning on buying some new, larger hdds this week anyway. I'll also try WD's repair tool and see if I can get some more life out of it
