Developer set to reveal first game tomorrow

Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski has opened a new studio named Boss Key Productions.

Bleszinski recently teased he was coming out of retirement, with the official announcement of the new company and its debut project due to take place at 5pm tomorrow.

As spotted by Polygon, documents filed to the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State also list Guerrilla Games co-founder Arjan Brussee as the studio’s chief operating officer.

Another document filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office also suggests the developer will focus on online titles, referencing “downloadable multiplayer interactive computer game programs”.

Bleszinski left his former studio Epic Games in October 2012 after 20 years at the company, working on titles such as Jazz Jackrabbit and Gears of War.

Wonder what they'll come up with.

I've always seen him as a PR guy. Someone to do the official walking and talking presentations for Epic, interact with the fan base, get the conversation started, etc.

The news doesn't necessarily create the highest of hopes but it's a cool move I suppose, I definitely like the studio name.

Good luck to them and hope they make it, Cliff has been shooting his mouth off a little too much lately but i guess he has a right to be ###### as guessing his departure from Epic wasn't the most amicable. I suspect it had a lot to do with the Tencent takeover, which many people there did not take kindly to. He didn't have to turn his back on the Gears series so publicly, though, that was just ugly and makes him look like a two-faced liar after he promoted it for years and years. It was his baby after all. Maybe Cliff needs to go back to actual coding, Jazz Jackrabbit style, cool him down a little.

I love Cliffy, he's partly responsible for a lot of the best games I've ever played.

But more F2P shooters...uhh...sure, I'll try it, but I'm not exactly excited about it.
