Change 3finger drag to 1finger?

Recommended Posts

With OS X Mavericks, can you change dragging/highlighting text with one finger by double tapping rather than using three fingure gestures?

It should be possible, I know I have it enabled. That said, with Mavericks I found that they changed a lot of gestures from what it used to be, so I ended up installing Better Touch Tool to get certain functionalities back.

Do you remember how you have enabled it?  I don't want to install an app to do this though :(

I am under the trackpad setting and can't see it

I don't have my macbook at the moment, so I can't check but I found this:

If you enabled "tap to click" then I think by double tapping the trackpad and scrolling along you should be able to highlight text.

Tap to click was enabled and neither double tapping nor scrolling works  :(

It could be that they removed it with Mavericks then and I had to apply it again with Better Touch Tool like I provided above. I would say that I would be surprised, but I remember having quite a few issues with the touchpad when I first upgraded to Mavericks.

Let me know when you will have a chance to touch your mac. I am wondering whether it is the OS or it's a default with my machine

I won't have a chance to check until sometime around the 23rd July, so perhaps someone else can check for you before I can.

That used to be the case, but it was lost somewhere in an update :(

Oh ok, great to know that it's not a defect with my machine then.

By the way, it sucks that they removed that feature..seriously..
