zillah2004
Dear Expert We used to have couple of laptops were on a domain ABC , and while they were joining the domain ABC whenever we copy something to a USB , we couldn?t open it from other PC,,,,,company policy no complain. Now we left the company ABC to and we want to unjoin the domain. What I heard from the IT guy he unjoined couple of those laptops but still facing the problem when copy to a USB, still not able to open stuff from other PC. Isn?t unjoined the domain should fix the issue ? Thanks

Thanks Try this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd277423.aspx Locally, a computer can be removed from a domain by following the procedures in the "Joining a computer to a Domain or Workgroup" subsection to change the computers membership from a workgroup to a domain. Use the following procedures to remotely remove a computer from a domain. Log on to a Domain Controller using an authorized administrator account. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers tool. Select Computers. A list of computer objects will appear in the right hand pane. Right-click on the computer to be removed and select Delete from the menu to remove the computer from the domain. Also, you can physically disable the USB ports in the BIOS on some systems.
REM2000
As Techbeck mentioned it's probably a Group policy, the problem is that sometimes even unjoining the AD the GPO settings will be left behind, you will need to hunt down the registry keys which block USB and remove them. +BudMan MVC Posted July 11, 2014 MVC Share Posted July 11, 2014 So have to assume the usb is ntfs formated, and permissions set on it to the users/group of that machine/domain. When you copy files to a folder/drive that has ntfs permissions set the files folders copied will inherit those permissions. On your usb what does it show for permissions? example Change the permissions as in my example, change to fat so doesn't have permissions or set the permissions how you want them. Could you please post a screen shot like my example of one of these usb drives so we can walk through how to fix it and verify this is what is going on. You could also have something setup with bitlocker to go maybe? And files are encrypted, maybe using efs, etc.
