Copyright Changes To Allow Purchase

Recommended Posts

I have created a design using the Aperture Labs logo, for a custom glass cutting board.

They will not print it due to copyright infringement. Yet I have got custom towels and other things done in the past without issue, using the same design. So I can only assume the designer I used for that changed the logo some way to allow it to not get in trouble. Yet obviously not enough for me to even notice....

Anyone know details into this, what I would have to change to allow it to be accepted. Obviously I am getting this done for myself and I am not re-selling it.

I think those are the only 2 valid options for you.

You can recreate anyone's work in private as long as you don't intend to profit from it but once you do its a legal minefield once caught, they would be profiting from copyright infringement despite you only wanting it for personal use and maybe they got in a little trouble between now and last time you did it. :)

the problem I suspect lies in the fact he's hiring someone else to make it and sell it to him... so in effect they would be selling him a copyrighted logo...

Anyway, its glass? Flip it and hope they don't recognize it, or you'll simply have to hire a less ethical company. As long as you can't see a change, its the same logo. So I don't think the other designer did anything, the ones who made them just don't care.
