Looks like the rumor was true. A leaked IGN News video, published by AOL.com Video ahead of tonight?s official announcement, reveals Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and launch for current gen consoles.

?With Unreal Engine 4, we can rapidly achieve the visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it,? Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada is quoted as saying in the video. ?Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to easily bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire.?

Further details were not announced.

Watch the leaked video below.

Isn't it a bit early to plan for next gen consoles already. and I would certainly hope they plan for current gen consoles.

but what about last gen, like 360 and PS3 ?   ;)

It says in the first sentence it's being released for current gen consoles. They're just saying that the engine will be ready for next gen games.

L2sarcasm :)

They're still using current gen to refer to 360 and ps3 and using next gen to refer to XO and PS4. Which at this point is stupid. Even those who haven't adopted yet know that its no longer next gen, its current gen.

The next gen idiocy will continue well into next year for sure..."next gen", how the hell can it be next if it's already been here for the better part of a year. As for UE4, if Daylight is anything to go by Epic and their Tencent masters need to step up, cause that wasn't exactly the showcase anyone expected...
