Best Value for Money Router for the functions I need?

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I cannot decide which router should I buy for the functions I need

I would like to buy a router with these functions/specs:

Media Streaming

  1. FTP Server
  2. USB Ports
  3. Strong WiFI Signal and Speeds with External Antennas in case I will need a stronger signal and to be able to replace them with stronger ones
  4. Gigabit Ethernet Ports
  5. BitTorrent/eDonkey/FTP/P2P etc Downloading Support direct to the attached HDD via it's USB Port
  6. Wake on LAN via WAN
  7. Dyn DNS
  8. Compatible with 3rd Party Firmware
  9. QoS
  10. IP v6 for future use

Available budget: 200$ but I would prefer not to spend it all or find a cheaper router

For now I'm between these routers:

ASUS RT-AC68U, Netgear R7000 and MikroTik RouterBOARD 951G 2HnD

ASUS has all the functions/specs I want, including BitTorrent/FTP etc download support via it's Download Master utility.

Netgear is superior in perfomance especially at HDD speeds but I am not sure if it is supports BitTorrent/FTP etc support

Both these routers offer extreme perfomance and top of the edge WiFi speeds however the cost around 200$.

MikroTik RouterBOARD 951G 2HnD from what I have seen, supports these features I need but it's WiFI is greatly inferior, no external antennas, and 56Mbit cap but it's really cheap in comparison to the other two.

Can you suggest any other routers?

+1 for draytek; support in my country is pretty amazing as well.

also if this is for a home use why dont you consider build your own, using a cheap pc and good nics?

Does anyone still use eDonkey? But anyway have a look at products by DreyTek. They offer most if not all of what you want.

I don't think so about eDonkey, I just wrote it like that from what I have seen from ASUS Router Specs but I use BitTorrent, FTP and HTTP definitely! For me  BitTorrent and FTP downloading straight to the attached HDD is the most important feature for me.

It's crucial for me!

Any Draytek routers with the mentioned feature?
