It sounds like more and more people are starting to get the 8.1 and Cyan.  So far it looks like the Lumia 625 and 925 are the first devices to get it.

Here's a parsed list so far.

Have you got it yet, also anyone without a Lumia, with a HTC or Samsung WP8 device, post if you've gotten official 8.1 or firmware updates for you phone.

Still no love for Canada. I'm getting an unlocked phone, so that wouldn't be a problem, right?

Not an issue for unlocked/unbranded phones, just have to wait for the OEM/maker to push out their firmware etc.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement...

The 9xx isn't "getting it"... certainly not yet in the UK.

Upgraded my 925 yesterday night to CYAN. Unplugged from recharge this morning. Battery is draining at ludicrous speed.

After less than 3 hours it went from 100% to 22% O_o

I can't believe it, there must be something wrong. Battery app shows that Cortana is draining a lot, but can't be so much.

It's improbable that I will pass the morning with a single charge. Yesterday, with WP8, the phone ended the day with battery at 32% !!!!

I found this when I first upgraded to 8.1 in the preview. The best solution is to literally reset your phone and restore from a backup. 8.1 changes how the apps run in the background so any apps which were blocked from running in the background are now free to do so which really kills the battery.

If you don't want to reset, just go through your apps and block/allow whichever.

Can anyone say if this update is newer than the latest update in the developer preview? Or is mine already pushed to the RTM 8.1 through it?

It could just be draining fast because it's the start and you have Cortana doing most of the work it has to do right now, like indexing and collecting info that it needs.  After this initial indexing is over with it should go back to normal, there could also be other apps running now that didn't run before.  Go into Battery Sense and look at the list, then just block/Allow what you want.   People should remember that apps coded specifically for 8.1 do not "exit" and close anymore if you hit "back" all the way and back out of them like they did before, they're probably still running.

Though if you leave them idle enough, which I tend to do with apps like Twitter Beta and Facebook Beta etc at some point 8.1 will just close them and they're not going to be in the task switcher list anymore.

It's been reported that MS is pausing the rollout of Cyan to Lumia users on the developer preview due to bitlocker issues.  If you have a Lumia with the developer preview on it and use Bitlocker then you run into problems when trying to upgrade.  MS recommends that those people use the Nokia Recovery Software Tool to go back to Windows Phone 8.0 and then upgrade to Cyan directly.

If you however don't use Bitlocker then there should be no issue but right now if the servers see you have a Lumia and the Developer Preview it probably won't push Cyan out to you, so you could just wait a bit more or downgrade to 8.0 and upgrade again.

I'm in Switzerland and I was using the 8.1 preview for a while on my Lumia 925, and I got the Cyan update a few days ago. The Swiss French keyboard was wrong since the developer preview (qwerty instead of qwertz), and still hasn't been fixed. I guess that's how MS thanks me for all my love :'(

Rest of it seems perfectly fine.

There's no other qwertz layout with a French dictionary is there ? Or a way to set the keyboard layout and dictionary separately ?

Meh

now the 925's, the 1320 and the 1520 are available, and my 1020 in the middle is still stuck in testing.

and I think auto focus is stuck on my phone, it won't focus on anything close anymore, seems to be stuck on a far away or infinity focus. and I need the update to see if it solves it or alternatively to send it in since I can't send it in with the preview update :p

I didn't want to start a new thread to ask a question with probably an obvious answer, so I decided to use an existing, similar thread.

I have a Nokia 620 and I am a bit inpatient about the Cyan update. I was thinking about using the developer preview, but... will I loose any Nokia-specific features? Stuff like audio graphic equalizer, dolby headphone (didn't see those two on my brother's Samsung Ativ S) or Nokia branded apps?

Another thing - the Cyan update is supposed to come with Windows Phone 8.1. We are now seeing WP 8.1 Update 1 being available. Question: if I have it all and the Cyan update comes out... what happens?

Thank you in advance :)

From what I remember you can get WP8.1 update 1 and not have cyan yet and then update to cyan without issue.  I don't own a Lumia though so I can't say I know 100% at this point.

OK, so here's the situation as I see it:

- Windows 8.0 with Lumia Black

- Windows 8.1 with Lumia Cyan

- Windows 8.1 update 1 with the same Lumia Cyan as the one above? Smaller update, so it seems plausible.

Then we have Windows 8.1 Developer Preview without Cyan... does it have Lumia Black then? Or is it Lumia-less completely and all Nokia stuff are disabled/unavailable?

edit - the Lumia Black, Lumia Cyan names are refered to as firmware, so does it mean it's installed on the phone like, well, firmware, and it is there no matter the operating system installed? So that wouldn't cause a problem with my Nokia becoming a non-Nokia phone when I decide to go with the Developer Preview? Sorry if I'm confusing stuff, but I'm just confused ;)

Your firmware isn't affected by 8.1 (preview or not). If you don't got Cyan yet, but update to 8.1 Preview, you'll still use the Lumia Black firmware (or whatever is the latest you used before) with all Nokia features intact (I for example have my Lumia 520 on 8.1 Developer Preview Update 1 with Lumia Black firmware and everything works just fine).

As far as I know, you'll get Cyan shown up once your device is up for the rollout, but it also installs the latest final 8.1 version, so you might have to reinstall any Preview update versions later on.

I see, thank you.

Further scenarios ;)

a) I install the DP version of 8.1. It will run with Lumia Black. When Cyan is released, it will simply update and there's not much to think about. Cool.

b) I install the DP version of 8.1 plus the Update 1 later on. When Cyan is released, will it revert the operating system back to 8.1 or will it require some form of manual uninstallation of the Update 1 preview? If the latter - how is it done?

Additional questions:

c) is updating to the DP version of 8.1 in any way hazardous to my current data? People, messages archive, apps and their settings?

d) is it possible to manually back-up the current system with its configuration?

e) if, for some reason, I'd wish to go back to 8.0/Black (that's how I got the phone) - how would I do that?

Again, I'm a newbie and googling about these things only makes me more confused ;)

If you get Cyan, you'll update to the latest RTM version of 8.1 (it basicly reverts Update 1 to the 8.1 final without the update). You can reinstall Update 1 by getting the Preview app again later on. There's no need to uninstall anything, it patches you to 8.1 with Cyan (without Update 1) and it also takes over your data.

I updated months ago from 8.0 to the preview and I haven't lost a single bit of data during the process, it gets all mitigrated during the installation process (it re-downloads most apps, but all data from them were intact for me).

Hmm, I don't think there's a backup other than the OneDrive Backup settings, never had to backup anything - I moved the apps with important data to the microSD Card (8.1 function).

And to revert to 8.0/Black, you need the Nokia Software Recovery Tool, it probably instructs you through the process, but I never tried that as everything worked just fine with 8.1.
