0 Skiver Veteran Posted July 16, 2014 Veteran Share Posted July 16, 2014 I will second Budman on this, Lightworks is free however there is a pro version. I've used Lightworks myself for a while and it certainly didn't suggest it was a trial or ask for payment. http://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_lwks&view=download&Itemid=
0 TAZMINATOR
That's not free. Yes it is.. There is a pro edition that you can pay for but they have a free version. Take a look at the site and compare two editions and see which edition you want. Draconian Guppy 1 Share
0 Praetor
why don't you use Virtualdub? It's free and it's still one of the best out there. Depending on the format your GS5 exports, you might have to download plugins for it but it's a very powerful tool. COKid 1 Share
0 +BudMan MVC Posted July 16, 2014 MVC Share Posted July 16, 2014 yeah it is.. There is a pro version that is not, but the free version should be more than enough for you http://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=102&Itemid=213 haha - just noticed others beat me to the punch ;)

OpenShot 2 once it is released for Windows (probably later this year).
0 +BudMan MVC Posted July 16, 2014 MVC Share Posted July 16, 2014 you are correct on the 720p, but what does that have to do with 60fps? He didn't say anything about needing 1080p output. Not sure what the issue is with creating a custom format in windows movie maker?
0 LaP
EDIT: It appears Windows Live Movie Maker allows this but only if you create a custom 'Setting' :) Yeah but your choice of codecs and containers for export is slim. Also WLMM fails to recognize for no reason some files when you try to import them (like WMP). For a reason i don't understand WLMM can't import the files of my old 480p camera. The files are simple mpeg files everything else can open. You can use it for a while but i advice you to switch to Open Shot once the Windows version is done later this year. Do not suggest anyone a software that is not released yet. Once it is released that time, if anyone asked for software recommendation, then you can suggest this software later that time after it is released. 0 +BudMan MVC Posted July 17, 2014 MVC Share Posted July 17, 2014 He can try the openshot live DVD.. That would be a way to test out the software without having to run linux on the box. Maybe he can use that until the windows version pops. While agree its not best advice to software that has not come out yet ;) But since seems he is windows user he could try the live dvd without much issue. Shoot maybe it will get him to want to give linux a try ;)
