+therealDamien Subscriber¹ Posted July 16, 2014 Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 16, 2014 will windows 7 user get stuck with silverlight, or will they offer html5.? I dualboot win 7 and 8.1 and have noticed that both the windows 8 netflix app and html5 in ie 11 both stream better picture then silverlight. with html5 and the windows 8 app. the picture becomes crystal clear faster then silverlight. for programming and debuging reason, im stuck with window 7 more then windows 8.1, as windows 8.1 has been giving me headaches. I tend to watch netflix while doing my work. makes the time go faster for me when compiling, but silverlight causes stutter when im also using vm software at the same time

+therealDamien Subscriber¹ Posted July 17, 2014 Author Subscriber¹ Share Posted July 17, 2014 ie 11 in windows 7 doesnt include the encrypting drm for html5 that netflix use the browser and the system has to have the ability to use encryption for the drm in the html5 video playback. windows 7 doesnt at the time have the support to do it. if I had time I would work with netflix to get the support in. but i due to my other work. I dont have time :)
Eric Veteran Posted July 17, 2014 Veteran Share Posted July 17, 2014 You could migrate your Windows 7 dev setup to Hyper-V. It should work just as well and it's built in to the non-core versions of Windows 8.
