Microsoft shutting down Xbox Entertainment Studios (TV studio, 200 employees)

No, you hire a studio with good camera and such. it's not really an issue today anyway. it's all about the SFX and well, experience is king, MS can't just one day decide to make a brand new top of the line SFX studio. it doesn't work and it's not cost effective, hence why even when you have a studio, this is done by other third parties again...

there was very little if anything to be gained by MS having it's own studio, it would only realistically have been practical and useful for live stuff. and even that you can better use third parties for.

Yeah, they really don't need to have their own "studio" to do things, they contract/outsource the job to other studios, it's what networks do.  Unless you guys think Netflix has it's own home grown studio where it films its own original shows?   Running a studio, TV more than movies actually, costs a good deal from what I've seen and heard over the years.

While this move sounds negative, to some, it won't have a huge impact, they're still going to do the Halo stuff for example and I think if they keep it game focused we could see the same thing happening for their other big AAA IPs, like a Gears mini-series that sets up the new game for example.
