Reb0ot Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 Hi everyone, I got a situation where we have several domains on the AD. d1.com d2.com d3.com and others... When joining a computer to the domain and launching outlook, it autodiscovers the user and adds the mailbox to their outlook. It also adds any other mailboxes the user has access to. so: user@d1.com would be their default account and they would also have access to: user@d2.com user@d3.com I can configure to do a from: user@d2.com through outlook which is find, but the sent email seems to go onto the sent items of user@d1.com for some reason Any calendar invites will go to user@d1.com even though it was sent to user@d2.com or d3.com Any ideas how outlook could recognize the different accounts and manage the calendar requests and sent items to the correct mailbox? Your only real option is maybe external mail enabled distribution group or Shared Mailboxes. So in this case you'd have: user@d1.com - user mailbox user@d2.com - shared mailbox user@d3.com - shared mailbox user2@d1.com - user mailbox user2@d2.com - shared mailbox user2@d3.com - shared mailbox ETC. You'd then give user@d1.com SEND AS permissions to their corresponding D2.com and D3.com mailboxes. You can then setup forwarding on user@d2.com and user@d3.com to forward all emails to user@d1.com The same would be for Distribution Groups except adding the user@d1.com as a member of the group instead of forwarding. Sent items are a different story and it depends on which version of Exchange you are on. In 2010 there is a server side change you can make to automatically put the emails in the right folder based on the sender ID. On Exchange 2013 it's a local change on the user machine (registry) to force Outlook to put it in the correct sent items folder. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2181579 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Obviously this might create some confusion for users when it comes to locating information if it could be in 1 of 20 different mailboxes. If it's only say less than 5 it might be management but remembering to SEND AS using the correct email address too might become troublesome if you have tons to choose from each time you send and email. This has been the same since 2007, there isn't much difference between versions. IN the emc go to Organization Configuration, Hub Transport, E-mail Address Policies, make new policy and change the default policy. Take a look at Exclaimer Email Alias Manager, it allows you to choose which of your email aliases you have on your Exchange account when sending email. It is very easy to do. Time consuming yes. Take a user enter a company name in the user profile that has striving to do with the domain name so it is easy for you to remember, then follow the bouncing ball to create the rule.I have a way to make a mass change in ad but first test the rules with the modifications you make. sc302 Veteran Posted July 18, 2014 Veteran Share Posted July 18, 2014 what I am suggesting isn't hard and can be done for far less than 100 quid per box...hell I will take 100 quid just to make the rules for you, it won't take much more than 30 minutes with the use of admodify (allows you to mass change ad with a few clicks) but don't want to do this until 1 mailbox is setup and tested properly. Why do you have multiple mailboxes, why not one mailbox for all addresses? each mailbox is seperate from eachother, you would have to send the calendar invite to each mailbox user.
