Does the iTunes 12 beta for Windows is out as well?

I don't see it on the Apple Developer website.

It doesn't feel too different from iTunes 11. It does open quite a bit faster for me, but the design is more a refinement rather than something new. The new "Get Info" window is nice, although it still doesn't really add anything new, except for what appears to be custom fields.

Also note that iTunes 12 seems to be hard-coded to Blue even if your system is set to Graphite.

Not felling the new itunes design. The interface looks quite... amateurish.

You mean style wise? I am fairly indifferent to it.

But iTunes 12 seem to refine the interface for the better.

I agree. it's not all that different from iTunes 11 beyond the "flattening" effect I mentioned earlier. And the underpinnings feel identical, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

Dark Mode activation is now done via a check box in General rather than the drop-down from last DP. It also appears to work almost perfectly, minus third-party menu bar extensions.

Running Yosemite DP4 in VMware 10 and I have to say its runs really well..the previous DP's were OK but the graphics were really slow and clunky in VMware  but this DP4 runs really smooth.

Good job Apple!!

I dont know. The interface icons have a Linux-ish quality for me.

My only gripe with dark mode is that it only applies to the menu bar. I wish the windows would also go dark. But I understand it would probably break the look of certain apps

It's the flatness - which OS X, Windows 8+, KDE, have ALL adopted.  (Surprisingly, one of the few desktop environments that hasn't gone "flat" - GNOME - has gotten whacked for the LACK of flatness.)

I dual-boot Windows 8.1 update 1 and Yosemite DP4 and I don't mind the flatness one bit - if anything, the flatness is actually a plus.

Shininess and "bling" can be rather distracting - and is something that every GUI has been suffering from.  (Yes - all of them.)

The "flat" trend also means that fewer resources are wasted - a monstrous advantage for portable computers (which are catching up to desktop computers in terms merely of sheer numbers); also, notice that "flat" IS the trend in terms of consumption devices (both Android L and iOS 8 are overtly flat).

Bring it on (the flatness, that is).

Has anyone had any trouble with launching activity monitor? Or Safari freezing?

Just wondering if it was an issue with my install.

I agree that shininess is distracting. However I also think that too much flatness does not look that great (personal taste of course). I think that Apple got it right since Snow Leopard: very subtle gradients and cut outs.

No trouble with Activity Monitor. I've heard others with Safari troubles but I mostly use Firefox so I've only used Safari a couple of times and without any hassle.

Thanks for that. I'll try a reinstall tonight.

My battery life has been a lot better with DP4, sot that is a plus. As for the iTunes 12 beta, well I am not a huge fan of the layout they have going. Too many things are now hidden behind icons, I liked having a sidebar visible at all times.

I had that issue with DP1, but not with any DP since (now on DP4).

DP3 licked what "outside" software isssues I had (Origin in particular) - I haven't tested DP4 yet.

Amazingly, VoodooHDA now detects my Sound Blaster Fata1ity Professional (PCI Express) - now I have to find out why the settings are zeroed in the equalizer.  (It's NOT due to a conflict with onboard sound, which is turned off/disabled in the BIOS; however, it COULD be a conflict with nVIdia HDMI/AppleHDA - I don't use nVidia HDMI because the port on the GTX550Ti is mini - not full-sized.)
