game_over
Just a quick one and i think i know the answer but just want to double check... I had a quick look online and didn't find a definitive answer, though i'm assuming it doesn't matter which way money is paid it's all covered the same way I am buying an item off someone and paying through PayPal, he has sent me a 'money request' which sends an invoice to my email, i can click the link and pay that way, is the protection any different to me going into my PayPal account and sending him the money manually? Steven P. Administrators Posted July 22, 2014 Administrators Share Posted July 22, 2014 A money request, isn't that the same as being billed through PayPal? Just ensure the details of the money request are correct (for whatever service or goods you are receiving) and it should be covered, that is effectively your invoice from the seller. jamieakers
Always use PayPal with a Credit Card linked to your PayPal account. That way if the item doesn't arrive and PayPal don't refund you the money you simply call your Credit Card company and issue a chargeback on the purchase. You'll find your Credit Card company are a whole lot more cooperative and far more keen to keep your business than PayPal are!
Brian M. Veteran Posted July 22, 2014 Veteran Share Posted July 22, 2014 PayPal won't care if the transaction is done outside of eBay. Jamieakers' advice is the best - use a credit card, and you can always do a chargeback if anything goes wrong.
game_over
I sent the money the normal way instead of through his request, upon sending it said it's covered by their protection but yes i will definitely be adding my credit card and paying for goods with that from now on.
