Mindy Bolinger
My son used my email, he never remembers his password to his emails when he set up his pc. Windows 8. Now, he has access to my pc. Today, he kept changing my desktop image over an hour away. I really would like to find a way, without wiping out either system, to unlink us. If anyone could be so nice and try and help, it would be awesome.
LaP
Ask him to change your account to his account on his PC? Then change your password. Charm bar > Settings > Change PC settings > Accounts > Your account > Disconnect > Reconnect with his own new account zhangm and xrobwx71 2 Share
spaceelf
If he can't remember his password, have him write it down. Then what LaP said, create a seperate account for him. I find it unlikely he's changing your desktop image remotely, there's a common feature in Windows to change it every so often from available files. Is not the wallpaper part of the synced settings in windows 8? If yes then it might explain why when he changes it on his PC then it is changed on her PC too since they share the same account. Now that option can be changed, but the better answer here is for him to use his own account. They don't want to be sharing apps, etc. So your first post was spot on. Good luck, Mindy :)
Ian S.
I would do this if you do not want to link: Winkey+C>>Settings>>Change PC Settings In PC Settings: (assuming you are running 8.1) Tap OneDrive>>Sync Settings On that page: Look at the heading that says "Personalization Settings" Uncheck the one that says Appearance and the one that says Desktop Personalization" OR disable all Syncing Ability at the top. Actually, if you do want a new account and a non-Microsoft account one, before you disconnect, you should tap other accounts>>Add and Account>>Sign in without a Microsoft account(On the bottom)>> Local Account BTW the above instructions create a Standard + Local Account, meaning it is a non-Microsoft, non-Child (family safety managed), non-Administrator account. zhangm 1 Share

Why not change your password and not tell him?
Mindy Bolinger
Thank you for helping. We both have 8.1. If I change my desktop, it changes on his as well. Even my startup screen is on his as well. Yes, he did change my desktop image. I did try to disconnect the account, but, the desktop and start up screen remained the same. I will try ians18 suggestion. From what my husband found from a Microsoft is that, there is really no way for this to be done, without a complete wipe of the system. +BudMan MVC Posted July 28, 2014 MVC Share Posted July 28, 2014 "there is really no way for this to be done, without a complete wipe of the system." Yeah NO.. That is just nonsense. Here http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/quick-tip-change-microsoft-live-to-a-local-account-in-windows-81/ Pictures and everything of where to disconnect it. I have never seen a use of link in the first place, but sure I could link my VM to MS and then disconnect it you want with pictures.
