'Titanfall' to launch map pack, major update with new credit system on July 31

Frontier's Edge

The second map pack and a major update for "Titanfall" will hit users July 31st, bringing with it a brand new in-game currency system.

"Frontier's Edge," the new map pack, will include three previously announced maps, while the fifth title update will bring a system that allows users to purchase burn cards and titan insignias with in-game credit, though developer Respawn stresses the credit won't cost real-world money. The system, called "Black Market," will be available to users once they hit level 11; users who have regenerated will keep access to the Black Market regardless of the level in the next player generation.

Users will earn credits for playing games and winning matches. Additionally, once a player hits level 50, a portion of his or her XP won each match will be converted to credits. Burn cards will also be sold through the Black Market when they aren't wanted, Respawn announced, instead of having users simply discard them. Burn card packs purchased through the Black Market will be sorted by type, though the cards in each pack be random cards of the selected category (a weapons pack will contain random weapon burn bards, for instance).

Respawn stressed that the credit system doesn't include microtransactions, meaning, users will never have to buy burn packs with real-world money.

"Frontier's Edge," the second of three announced map packs for the game, will cost $10 individually, though it is also part of the "Titanfall" season pass, which includes the three announced map packs for $25.
