Windows 7 being used: Where can I DL default Vista themes?

Recommended Posts

I reinstalled my laptop to factory settings (Windows 7) and was hoping someone could, out of kindness point me to a link, hopefully official MSFT site that allows people like me to download the original Vista themes.

just the original Vista themes UNLESS**, there's a legal issue with such a request.

many thanks.

Are you asking for Vista wallpapers? Vista didn't have themes, even if it did, Windows Vista and Windows 7 use incompatible theming resources.

Well, if the option is there without a 3rd party program, i'd have to say it is.

(As Hum confirmed in his post)

Hm, I believe Dot is referring to the theme packs introduced in Windows 7.

When I hear 'theme', I think the skin of the UI... In Vista, that would have been the AERO UI it introduced, and the classic theme. Maybe we're on two different pages here.

Yea, it did, just like other versions of Windows. Themes (a collection of settings, icons, wallpaper, etc) could be applied which may or may not include visual styles (the actual GUI "skin").

The one I have ALWAYS liked is this one. I'll have to figure out how to resize it to 1600x900 for my screen.

You have great taste. That wallpaper is probably my favorite in Windows Vista.

I wasn't able to find a 1600x900 image, but I did find a 1600x1050 one. Perhaps you will find a use for it?

Excellent! my thanks very much to you. I think all I'll have to do is right-click and "save as" 1900x1050 will be fine. then under customize in Windows I'll just hit "fit" for the best fit to my screen. Again, thank you.  (Y)

Added later: I think MSFT got it right with this wallpaper. This is from my photographic experience and point of view. I'd love to be there and capture a few photos with my filters and such.

The default Vista theme was better than the Windows 7 theme and is much better than the Windows 8.x theme.

this was from my recent Lake tahoe visit. I try to get out of the house when i feel I can make it physically. at any rate, this was near incline village and sand harbor.

Note: when you get to the webpage, you'll have to click the picture twice to get it to come in clear. as far as I know. it was 5PM i wanted sundown but with the kids in tow... sometimes I have to settle.

Here's a story about the photo and photographer.

that was an excellent story. I'm amateur myself and have been published a few times myself but nothing of his caliber. but the shot is gorgeous and lighting was perfect
