ultimate99
Is there a dvd player that can act as a dvd-rom for a computer? Like hook it up to laptop and read content to it, not just media but say installation files?

(Account no longer active)
Use narrator if its text I think he's meaning a DVD player which can a) plug into a TV (to watch a DVD video), and b) plug into a computer via USB (to transfer DVD data). I haven't seen one on the market but do think it would be possible to make such a device (ie. using a Raspberry Pi [some low-level programming required]). +BudMan MVC Posted August 3, 2014 MVC Share Posted August 3, 2014 What market would there be for such a device? For one dvd players in general are just becoming less and less marketable.. Optical disks in general just something in demand much any more. If you want something for your PC to read disks, just buy an external usb one. They are CHEAP!! Here is a burner even with M-Disc support!! for $20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136261&ignorebbr=1 Also most TV's play usb attached media now, for example that $20 device support tv playback - so more than likely connect it to your TV and it would play media on the optical.
