Hamas rejects Gaza ceasefire extension

57 posts in this topic

The Palestinian militant organisation Hamas has rejected any extension of the three-day ceasefire in Gaza which expires on Friday morning.

It said that Israel had failed to meet its demands. Key among these is the re-opening of Gaza Harbour to shipping.

Two rockets fired from Gaza hit southern Israel three hours before the three-day ceasefire was due to expire, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

The IDF accused "terrorists" of violating the ceasefire.

The rockets fell on open ground and caused no casualties, the Israeli army said early on Friday.

A Hamas military wing spokesman earlier called on Palestinian negotiators holding indirect talks with Israeli neogtiators in Cairo to refuse any ceasefire extension unless its long-term demands were met.

The spokesman said his organisation was ready for "a long war".

Brainless fools. And to think some members here think we're all supposed to feel sorry for Hamas. Uh, no. They broke another cease fire early. Israel should just clear out Gaza and send those people packin'. They will never choose peace.

^^ certainly sounds like it. More interested in killing than a cease fire that would save their people grief, the leopards spots are showing.

Notice how none of the usual types are commenting? Wonder why, ran out of anti semitic comments to make finally? Has to be that because they are not capable of dealing with the truth and reality, and admitting being wrong this whole time

I don't think there are a lot of people here with any support for Hamas, but that doesn't mean that what Israel has been doing should be condoned either

It seems that Israel just always should get a free pass just because they are Israel, that's what a lot of people DO have an issue with at this point

I wouldn't confuse criticism of Israel as support for Hamas. Hamas are deranged and as soon as they were elected it essentially cemented the reality that this conflict would simply never end.

Hamas' argument that they reject the ceasefires because their demands aren't being met are nonsensical as well. You could accept a ceasefire and then negotiate your terms. No negotiation could exist while active military action was occurring.

All Israel are doing is defending themselves. What they are doing should certainly be condoned and supported.

Much like what the USA are now doing in Northern Iraq. Just ridding the world of extremist terrorists, in an effort to make it a better place for all.

Unfortunately, Hamas only ever agree to ceasefires to restock their supplies and munitions. Once they have more firepower, they start lobbing the rockets back into Israel, even if the ceasfire isn't yet over!

^^ Yup. To Hamas cease fires are just a ploy to rearm for more killing. Cynical SOB's don't care about their people, just their hatred for Jews.

HAMAS is an organization which took control over the Palestinian government in a series of violet clashes with the Fatah political party. They have military wings in various middle eastern locations and are considered a terrorist organization by all western nations and even by a few arabic nations.

I don't think anyone should be surprised by this decision by HAMAS, they are not logical, nor fair, nor care about what happens to their people. They are just pushing a religious agenda.

More like they use religion as an excuse for their homicidal tendencies. Others say mommie liked a sibling best, they ate too many Twinkies or some other drivel. All of them are simply the few percent who should be culled. Rapidly.

And who defends the civilians in Gaza?

Of course Israel has the right to defend itself, but they've killed more civilians over the past month than Hamas. I mean how many civilians have to surround a known militant compound, tunnel or weapons stock pile for Israel not to fire?

In war civilians die. Fact of life.

That Hamas chooses to put them in increased danger by placing their headquarters, rocket launchers, artillery and other military installations in Gaza's most heavily populated areas is on them, not Israel.

Using human shields like this is despicable.

And the Laws of Armed conflict, Geneva conventions aims to minimise that. You don't just rocket civilian populations and say "Well it's Hamas's fault for using human shields".

Of course, lets just ignore that Hamas using human shields is also against Geneva conventions.

If only we could have civilized wars.....

Maybe we should just form a line and each side fire without aiming.

I don't support firing on civilians or using them as shields, but lets not pretend that war is civilized.  Rules and conventions are only useful if everyone follows them.

Attacking civilian areas is not against the laws of war if there are valid military targets there. Ask those who lived near German factories, aircraft, logistics depots or missile facilities during WW-2.

Also, Israel has a early warning system for bombs, much like we have here for Tornadoes , Hurricanes etc. They are well prepared and prepared people survive.

When attacking occupied areas the US tries to minimize the damage, hence the development of the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (also used by Israel) and other such limited blast radius munitions. Even the drones may be getting smaller missiles with less than a kilogram of explosives (Spike) instead of the Hellfires which have 45 kg.

You do know the Geneva Convention was AFTER World War 2 right? Meaning, any actions before that which targeted Civilians was not considered a war crime? But they are now, Hamas have nowhere else to launch from, Israel keeps targeting them no matter what, which would be good, except they're hitting everything and anyone, the most moral army in the world? Don't make me laugh.

Keep digging until you hit rock bottom, War will only bring your chosen people of isreal death and suffering.

"you mean you will put down your rock and I will put down my sword then we can kill each other like civilized people?"

(if you could do this like you say, then it would be easy for anyone to win a war simply by strapping human shields around everything and anything)
