NightCrawler.
Using textedit at the moment and it does the job - I used to use Wordpad on Windows for my journal and they're both similar. What i'm looking for though, is a writing application that syncs with your Ipad so that you can view it and edit on there. The textedit application has an icloud function but that doesn't mean it lets you access it on the iPad. It's mainly for Macs as there is no textedit application on iOS. So far I've found this: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ia-writer/id392502056?mt=8 But its a paid application and I'm looking for a free option. I've heard of Evernote but that seems like its more complex than necessary for the simple task of viewing and editing a journal. I don't even know if it's even a writing application or an idea capturer. I'd appreciate it if you could offer your suggestions.

Dick Montage
Looking through the application store and it's frustrating that so many applications cost money. If you want functionality outside the free provided apps, then you pay. Why not just use a sync'd file?
+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted August 8, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted August 8, 2014 Use Pages and save the files to iCloud. Voila, you can access them from both Mac and iPad. It's free on both OS X and iOS. Jub 1 Share
Starbuck84
Didn't OneNote offer such solutions? Or either Evernote, Google Docs. Or Dropbox and Byword? Byword opens plain text files on your iPad. Just hit save and Dropbox will sync your file. Free all the way and almost hassle free.

NightCrawler.
Turns out my Mac isn't registered and that's why prices come up for those applications, funnily enough. I bought my Mac Air used, although in mint condition. I would register it but I don't know the original purchase date and the owner I bought it from received it as a gift. So I guess those Mac options are out of my range. I'm using OneNote and it seems okay thus far. Thank you guys. If I don't like it I'll just probably end up going for a well priced paid option. Dutchie64
OneNote. You have a TON of possibilities regarding notebooks, search options, text from images etc.. And OneDrive fits into the Mac environment just fine. Like Office btw. And yes, it's similar to EverNote. Not sure if there's an equivalent to Wordpad in the Apple Store. Welcome to OSX ;-P NightCrawler. 1 Share
