Best (Free) low resource anti virus


Question

I still have xp I cannot get MSE.I do not like avira since in my experince its just horrible resource hogger.WHat is the best free anti virus that does not eat resources

filehippo has MSE available I believe along with other things for Windows XP, though I really recommend not using XP at all.

You need to get off of Xp.

 

 

I find it amazing how they wrote updates and patch code on basically a monthly basis for the past 11 years on the same piece of software, and STILL were unable to get all the bugs

Kaspersky isn't exactly lightweight though. If I recall correctly, the minimum requirements call for 512MB of RAM. Not appalling, but not exactly lightweight.

 

We're no longer in 2004 and most computers and laptops come with a minimum 2GB RAM :) Contrary to prior belief, KAV has quite a light footprint

You're talking to a guy who is using an OS that was released in 2001 though so no telling what he's using.

I don't prefer buying Internet Security suite but just Antivirus with good features.

I think ESET NOD32 Antivirus (NOT Smart Security) is pretty good and fast.
