patseguin Global Moderator Posted August 10, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted August 10, 2014 This is a fresh Windows due to another issue, so everything should be fine. I was reading discs yesterday. Now, today none of them not even a USB will show up in the drives list. under DVD/CD-Rom drives I have 2 devices with ! and under USB controllers I have 2 devices showing Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). Thinking it was that, I unplugged the USB drive and deleted all 3 from device manager but the 2 internal show up with the !'s. I opened the side and made sure the connections were seated. Eric Veteran Posted August 10, 2014 Veteran Share Posted August 10, 2014 Are you using anything like AnyDVD? Does the non-USB one show up in Disk Management or Device Manager? Agreed. I would think that it is a driver issue. I would do a re-install or go to the drive's manufacturer website and download the drivers for your Blu-Ray drives (I would probably try this first). TAZMINATOR Posted August 10, 2014 Share Posted August 10, 2014 Do this: 1) Restart your PC/device and see if they are back. (Most of time works after restart... Happened to me most of time.) 2) if not, check the device manager about the driver issue(s). 3) if none, uninstall the drivers and then reinstall drivers 4) Restart and see if it is solved. 5) Contact the support if none are not working. goretsky Supervisor Posted August 11, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted August 11, 2014 Hello, You mentioned "fresh Windows" in your original post, so I'm guessing you meant "fresh install of Windows", is that correct? If so, make sure you have finished installing all Windows updates as well as driver updates. For the latter, visit the various chip manufacturers like AMD, Intel, ASMedia, Renesys, etc. for things like motherboard chipset and USB drivers, as the ones available through Microsoft Update may not be the latest.
