Embed images from OneDrive

Is there any other way around it?

Would be handy, as all my photos get auto uploaded to OneDrive now.

Can't you just download and then reupload as a attachment? I wonder why they don't allow direct linking? Cloudapp and Dropbox does afaik?

Edit: NM didn't see Nick's post when replying :P

So here is what I did to post the above image:

  • Click on the link provided in the code you posted: link
  • When the picture loads, right-click on it and select "copy image location"
  • In the Neowin edit box, switch to BB code mode and write the following:

    [img="yourlinkhere"][/img]
Now actually I think the BB code has been updated to be simpler these days, but that's the way I've always linked to images.

EDIT: I should also point out that I'm using Firefox - other browsers may have the "copy image location" option elsewhere.

It doesn't link to the full size image, that would be ideal.

Maybe I'll just have to set flickr as my auto upload/image dump. That might actually make it easier to keep a nice OneDrive album for viewing on the Xbox or whatever.

Instructions for above:

  • Click on link from the code in the first post: link
  • Click on the picture that appears in the link. This will take you to OneDrive.
  • Select "view original" at the top of the page.
  • Right-click picture, "Copy image location."
  • Use the IMG code posted above and enter the link.

As it stands, I think I'll change to flickr for now, because it works how I want it to, i.e. thumbnail linking to original with info.

Even though I have to edit out a bit of fluff from the BBCode that flickr presents to me, it's still less messing about than OneDrive.

Thanks for the help though, Nick ;)

why you just yelling at MS? almost all the online storages work this way including the popular Dropbox

they have one public folder for sharing and then every other folder is private

So, there is a way to actually embed a onedrive picture into a forum post.  It is not neat by any means but it works.

1. Click on the picture you want to share

2. Make sure sharing is set to 'view only'

3. At the top click on 'view original'

4. That url is now the link that will allow for embedding into bbcode posts (such as here)

I need to add that the picture does not have to be in the public folder.

are you sure?

it'll post yes, but you'll be the only person able to see the image. if others can see it then that's a security issue as that could be abused to gain access to other docs/files & should be reported to MS to patch the hole

That's is why it has to be set to 'view only' and not edit.  That way they can view the image and not do anything else.

It was a joke - I just spat it out, thanks for taking it so seriously and ruining the comedic genius of it :(  (another joke BTW)
