I have a iPad 2 which gets used mostly in the restroom.

Had a Nexus 7 but used it so rarely I gave it to my parents

I have a w500 Acer tablet with windows 8.1.1 but it just collects dust.

50% of the time i'm on my couch using my laptop which is hooked up to a keyboard / mouse and 2 monitors. The rest of the time I use my 4 monitor workstation down stairs.

As far as actually using a tablet, when ever I want to be productive I always want to throw them against the wall, especially for anything internet related. I'm like ...FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I COULD HAVE BEEN DONE BY NOW ON A LAPTOP OR PC! I usually just end up frustrated.

A prime example is the Neowin mobile site.

This thread really needed a poll :(

Use mine fairly regularly but just for lightweight stuff.. reading a book, looking up something while watching TV, remote sessions on various systems, etc. Doesn't really affect my computer usage at all, I use my tablet as an extension of it, not a replacement, not including things I can't do on a tablet to begin with. So for me, it's "I need a PC, I enjoy the convenience of a tablet, but can live without it too."

It did when I had my old HP laptop. Since buying the macbook, it resumes instantly so I'm able to quickly check my emails, websites, w/e else I need.

My iPad gets used occasionally by my girlfriend for light browsing. It'll also get used by me if I get a client who requests me to develop for it. Nothing more.

No I still use my computer as much as I used to, I use it more when I'm out and about or when I'm in bed for watching stuff on YouTube.

Owning a tablet hasn't but owning a phablet+PC has. Can't do with just phablet nor just PC. Tablet no. If I HAD to choose just one, the PC (in a portable form factor such as a laptop) would win.

The nexus 7 I bought the Mrs for her studies pretty much sits on the desk depreciating in value and utility until she decides to play "odd socks".

I had a windows 8 desktop, well I still have it available, its in my granddaughters room in our house, I had a Sumsung 10" tablet, it was ok, then I got a Surface RT, still have that, then I got a Surface Pro, I even have a 23" TV Monitor to use with my Pro, but I use my Pro as my daily machine, sometimes on the desk, sometimes on my lap, I will even admit to buying a iPad 4th Gen with retina, but my Pro is love, would love the Pro 3, I am saving, but it will take a while. I have heart problems, sometimes I'm in bed for a week, my Surface Pro takes up little room on my bed, yes its changed the way I use computers. Jim

I dunno.  I sit in front of the computer doing whatever while playing mobile games on my tablet and texting my wife on my phone. I may have an addiction. It's indispensable when I'm out of the house, though.

Nope.

According to my wife I have an addiction to technology. I find that tablets make it easier to read the news in bed and to play casual games when away from the computer. Otherwise, I'm on my laptop (like now) or on my desktop due to its triple screen setup making multitasking a breeze. It really depends on the the time of day, but I probably stare at a screen for 98% of my waking hours and I'm constantly shifting between so many devices.

I wouldn't say it has replaced my computer, but that is likely due to what I do with my devices. Tablets are great if you're just browsing simple websites and playing casual games. Once you get into anything useful (like typing a forum response, for instance) you'll be far more at home on the laptop or desktop.

Was looking at getting a cheap tablet last year for couch/travel use but instead elected to get a Surface 2 Pro with a Targus docking station and NAS to replace my ageing desktop and ageing laptop. It's perfect as I don't have to manage multiple devices anymore but I still continue to use a dual screen setup at home whilst also having an ultra portable device for couch and travel use (which is at leat two 3 hour train trips a week).

Obviously setup cost more than just the cheap tablet but would have ended up upgrading the desktop and replacing the laptop by now anyway.

I personally use my tablet mostly for browsing StumbleUpon / Youtube, or for reading articles I've saved for later via Instapaper. For everything else, desktop PC.

I believe our iPads have made things more convenient. Perfect for those quick Google searches, entertainment, and taking care of finances while sitting in the family room. No need to pull out the laptop or sit in the office with the desktop. The iPad has also made reading books a pleasure for my young daughter. It has also played an important role for me during grad school. So all around it has been a positive experience for our family.

No.  But then I don't own a tablet. :D

Girlfriend has a Kindle HD Fire.  Got rid of her PC and bought a Laptop.  Uses lappy for watching films, listnening to music mainly.  Kindle for browsing and a few simple games.

Slightly for the better, since its a convenience when I want to look something up or check messages or kill a few minutes with a game.

I'll remove the slightly when one of my tablets is directly responsible for getting me a 6 digit paycheck or the girl of my dreams. Neither of which has happened yet.

I reckon so, yes.

It basically replaced my aging laptop at home, and is much more convenient for reading the news browsing the web and casual social networking and stuff. I have also taken it to meetings with clients for work to take notes on.

It also serves as a decent DLNA/Netflix proxy for my TV when paired with my Chromecast. I can access all the videos and music on my PC through it and push them to the TV, and I can play Netflix via it as well.

Laptops are PCs...

Not at all. It's just yet another media consumption device that I primarily use in bed, or to chromecast videos to my TV.
