Adobe CC and best option for computer setup

Recommended Posts

Im a graphic designer and use my computer work and not games. Would like to play games but that's more of an after thought more then anything else. My computer now is using an AMD Athlon X4 2.4ghz, 4gb ddr2, SSD, GTX 550 ti. Don't remember the motherboard but it was cheap. Got it made in 2010 because my last own died and needed to make one with little to no more. I added the SSD and GTX video card 2012:when I started working. Well the computer has been making a lot of noise the last year and really want to replace mitherboaed, CPU, RAM, and my case. Not sure if I should just to the i7 haswell or go with AMD FX 8000 series and save money. Don't care about power usesage living at parents house now and don't not worry about the bill. Also should I wait for the DDR4 ram to come out? Will use the computer for adobe CC, Photoshop, InDesign, illustrator and premiere pro for work and browsering.

You could save money by going with a Core i5 instead of the AMD 8000 series. Look for prices and benchmarks of the latest in the i5 series. Unless you do a lot of video editing, you won't benefit much from the i7 in other programs that are not that intensive on CPU. Also, the i5 line up had an edge over the 8000 series in gaming in the last comparisons I saw a while ago.

If you can afford it, get an i7 if you plant to keep that setup longer or plan getting more into video editing. Try comparing the i5 prices and see if the savings are better spent on a better mobo or a nicer case than what you already have in mind.

I would not wait for DDR4 right now. The new mobos, new CPU's and memory modules are not going to be cheap. The price will eventually go down but it could be a long time before that happens.

Just my two cents if that helps you.

Just my two cents.
