Actually, while <embed> tags aren't loaded when the parent element has the display: none style set the latest versions of IE, Firefox and Chrome/Webkit will still load <img> tags, so using a spoiler won't prevent the images loading.

thank you.   i knew that swf example was just not the same as a image example... and a quick search around google can show a lot of examples of spoiler tag still loading images in background.

Firefox still doesn't load it until click, or at least that seems to be the the case with my one anyway. :)

In any case, it doesn't matter as even slow connections are better than 3G and console/handheld internet browser speeds.
