+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted August 14, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted August 14, 2014 Does anyone on these forums happen to have these two cards and have a powersupply around this size? I keep finding different results. saying it will use 700W, one saying 800W so on and so forth. Not sure which to trust, or how to find out for sure. I have an awesome 760W and I'd rather not have to upgrade if I were to pay that much for a second card lol
Mindovermaster Moderator Posted August 14, 2014 Moderator Share Posted August 14, 2014 What brand PSU do you have? A cheapo PSU won't give out nearly that much.\ Edit: that in your sig?

Mindovermaster Moderator Posted August 14, 2014 Moderator Share Posted August 14, 2014 According to Geforce site, one 780ti recommends 600W. So with the second card I would take half value of that. So 900W in all. Yours may work, but not work well. If you have the money, I would get a higher PSU.
Astra.Xtreme
You can try it and if the PSU makes a squealing sound under heavy load, then you're overexerting it and should upgrade.
ZakO
I've got an i7 4970k @ 4.8GHz with SLI GTX 780Ti slightly overclocked and the highest power draw I've seen from the wall was 680W (while both the GPUs and CPU were under heavy load), you would probably be okay, but as above, if you can afford it I'd buy a higher wattage PSU. +longgonebn Subscriber² Posted August 14, 2014 Author Subscriber² Share Posted August 14, 2014 Is the 4970K use more or less power than my 4770K? lol Thank you for that, that makes me willing to at least try it, and hope I don't have to upgrade the PSU. The 4970K is rated at 88W TDP and the 4770K is rated at 84W TDP, so they will have very similar power consumption. I believe the 4970k is essentially just a slightly higher clocked 4770k with a different thermal material to potentially lower the temperatures.
