Whats with the newly shortened suggestions on Chrome?

Question

Using Chrome Version 38.0.2121.3 dev-m (64-bit), and when I type something into the search bar all the suggestions cut short and end in three dots.

Why would they implement this feature? It literally ruins the entire convenience of the suggestion bar since I dont know what it says behind the dots.

I noticed it about 2 hours ago and it's bothered me about 5 times since. I didnt realise how much I used to the suggestions feature before they changed it.

Anyone else got this and/or noticed the impact of the change?

Hey man, that is caused by an experimental setting that was turned on by default, just go to chrome://flags/#harfbuzz-rendertext and set the option to "disabled", then restart Chrome.

They don't enable it by default in dev anymore. It has been reverted.

"RenderTextHarfBuzz will be enabled by default in the future, when the relevant bugs are fixed."
