ACTIONpack
I have $50 rewards from Best Buy that I want to use to get my Dad a new smartphone. He is using the Nokia Lumia 710 which it was a hand down from me when I got the HTC 8X. Well, he always complain about he always get a use or old stuff. I want to surprise him with a new phone and this this would be a good choice with him. It's only $50 after the I use the rewards I use from Best Buy and I can get it before I lose that from Best Buy. Best Buy does not sell the 635 version which is $30 more than the AT&T version. If I get the Lumia 630, how can I unlock it to use it under T-Mobile? I know Congress pass a law that carrier has to unlock it but don't know the rules around it.
Grinch
You can try and request one from AT&T though I believe they will charge you. Best bet with that is to contact AT&T first and see what their policy is. You will probably want to verify that the phone will work well on T-Mobile's network as I'm fairly sure that device doesn't support all of T-Mobile's bands including those for LTE. Argi
Try this: https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/termsAndCondition or speak to someone over the phone. I'm not sure on the new law's requirements though - whether it only decriminalizes it or if it goes further and actually requires carriers to unlock at request. beanboy89
What carrier are you on? I'm guessing T-Mobile. There are no AT&T or T-Mobile variants of the Lumia 630, but there are versions of the 635 for both AT&T and T-Mobile. I just checked Best Buy's website, and I only see the T-Mobile Lumia 635 listed. ACTIONpack
I got the 635 instead. So it's not an issue anymore.
