Max Norris Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Personally this is why I typically don't use Modern apps aside from stuff I put together myself and a couple of well knowns, no random browsing... I know where the "regular" software is coming from. Still need to use common sense on other stores too but, sheesh, that's pretty bad. I like the concept, but the execution needs a lot of work yet. I'd be really ###### of if I was a Window RT user, which I almost became if there was a free app that could read mkv's and decode DTS audio files. Microsoft does NOT, in any form, enforce ANY standards for "applications" in its store. I am pretty sure the only way to take down a scam application to sue them. Almost nothing remotely of quality of an "Application". The store mostly consists of, 1. Scams 2. *Real Application Name Here* Guide 3. Trashware / Made in a week **** 4. Pay to Win "Free" Games Seriously, Open your Steam Library and Open the Windows Store games page. I wish Neowin had a directory to highlight apps developed by Neowin members. Pretty easy for you to find mine since two are in my signature. 17 for Windows Phone and 12 for Windows 8. Because you'd have to be legally insane to think Microsoft doesn't care about the numbers. Microsoft is looking to make a buck, just like you are. There's nothing wrong with this. However, we can't sit and pretend problems don't exist with the Windows store, or go around trying to play the blame game while the issues are overlooked and swept under the rug. I'm a firm believer that if you're a fan of a company, you will give them the constructive criticism they need in order to help them assess where the problems exist, why they are losing out on potential customers, and help alleviate these concerns so that people can have confidence in the store. I personally want to be able to have confidence in the Windows Store, so that when I have my grandmother downloading apps for her Surface, I don't have to worry if she actually got the correct application/game. If you don't market to your fullest extent, you lose out. Some ###### giving bad reviews just for the sake of it will always exist. So unless its a shame thing, I don't understand it.
